Spider Webb, an American jazz drummer and session musician, died on June 2, 2026.

He was 81. Born Kenneth Ronald Rice in Detroit on June 15, 1944, he began playing drums as a child and first recorded in Detroit before moving to New York in 1967.

There, he became a sought-after studio player and was hired on the spot by King Curtis. Webb went on to drum for Harry Belafonte from 1969 through 1972 and also recorded with artists including Freddie Hubbard, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Grover Washington, Jr., Labelle, Herb Alpert and Hugh Masekela. He was also known as Kenny Rice.
