Shereen Ratnagar, an Indian archaeologist, died on May 25, 2026.
She was 82. Ratnagar’s work focused on the Indus Valley civilization, and she wrote several books and academic textbooks.
She studied at Deccan College, University of Pune, and later at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London, where she studied Mesopotamian archaeology. She also served as a professor of archaeology and ancient history at the Centre for Historical Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi before retiring in 2000.
