Honoré Traoré, the Burkinabé general who served as head of state in 2014, died on May 25, 2026.
He was 68. Traoré was the interim head of state of Burkina Faso for one day, from October 31 to November 1, 2014, following the overthrow of Blaise Compaoré during the 2014 Burkina Faso uprising.
After taking power, he and other officials in the interim military administration declared Isaac Zida the interim head of state until a civilian transition could be organized. Traoré later served as Compaoré’s aide de camp before the uprising.
