Born on April 23, 1955, in Port Olry on Espiritu Santo, then part of the New Hebrides, he came from Vanuatu’s largest island and was also known as Rialuth Serge Vohor. A member of the Union of Moderate Parties until 2022, Vohor first became foreign minister in 1991 and later returned to the post in the Kilman government.
His political career included brief terms as prime minister from 1995 to 1996, 1996 to 1998, in 2004, and again in 2011. In 2015, the Vanuatu Supreme Court convicted him of bribery and sentenced him to three years in jail.
