Ronnie Golden, the British singer and comedian who founded the band The Fabulous Poodles, died on September 27, 2026.
Born Tony De Meur, he later moved into comedy with The Comic Strip and became a familiar figure on the London alternative comedy circuit from the early 1980s, appearing frequently at The Comedy Store. He also featured in the second episode of The Young Ones, memorably suspended upside-down as Buddy Holly in his parachute costume, and went on to front the R&B and soul group Ronnie and the Rex while writing songs and sketches for BBC Radio 4’s The Right Time.
