Robert Rivas, the Trinidadian-born Roman Catholic prelate and Bishop of Kingstown, died on September 27, 2026, aged 80.
Born in La Pastora, Trinidad, on June 7, 1946, he served in the Catholic Church as a priest and bishop and was archbishop of Castries in St. Lucia from 2008 to 2022.
He entered the Dominican Order after his studies in Trinidad and Tobago and later studied theology in Rome at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas. He was also the author of How Beautiful the Valley, published in 2014.
