Richard Barnes, the British singer and actor known for his work in pop music and television roles, died on December 19, 2025, aged 81.

Born in Surrey in 1944, he began his professional music career with The Quiet Five, playing bass guitar and singing vocals before the group broke up around 1967. Barnes released a solo album on Philips Records in 1970 and had two UK Singles Chart hits that year with “Take to the Mountains” and “Go North.” He also appeared on stage in Jesus Christ Superstar and later acted in Count Dracula, Doctor Who: Nightmare of Eden and The Winds of War.

Richard Barnes (9 July 1944 – 19 December 2025) was a British singer and actor who saw limited chart success in the early 1970s. He also worked as an actor.
