Born in Piacenza in 1951, he became widely known for his Dizionario dei film, first published in 1980 as the country’s first book of its kind and later updated under the titles Dizionario di tutti i film and il Farinotti. He also worked extensively in broadcast and public service roles, including as a longtime commentator on Rai 1 programs, a liaison on fiction and cinema for the broadcaster’s leadership, and a member of several commissions, among them the Venice Biennale.
