Pierre Deny dead at age 69, complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Pierre Deny, the French actor known for his role in Emily in Paris, died on May 25, 2026, from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

He was 69. Deny trained at the INSAS in Brussels and the École nationale de théâtre, where he studied with André Delvaux and Chantal Akerman.

He began on stage in 1980 at the TNP de Villeurbanne in Dom Juan, directed by Roger Planchon, and went on to appear in numerous plays and more than 100 film and television productions, including Une femme d’honneur, Julie Lescaut, L’Instit, Joséphine, ange gardien, Braquo, Plus belle la vie and Demain nous appartient.
