Over a screen career that also included Leo the Last, I Don’t Want to Be Born, Made and Eamon, she was cast in character parts that often drew on her ability to play nuns, prostitutes and older relatives. In 10 Rillington Place, she played Muriel Eady, the first woman murdered in the film by Richard Attenborough’s John Christie.
McMahon died in a nursing home in Dublin.
