
Peter John Schofield, the Australian rules footballer who played for Richmond, Melbourne and North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League, died on January 13, 2026, aged 93.
Born on 12 February 1932, Schofield made his VFL debut for Richmond with four goals and finished that season with 21 goals from six appearances. He later moved to Melbourne in 1953 before crossing to Moorabbin in the Victorian Football Association in 1954.
That year he was the VFA’s leading goalkicker with 96 goals, including 22 in a match against Sandringham. He went on to play at Moorabbin for just over three seasons before joining North Melbourne after Round 2, 1957.
