Peter Hollingworth, the Australian Anglican bishop who served as archbishop of Brisbane from 1989 to 2001 and as governor-general of Australia from 2001 to 2003, died on May 19, 2026, aged 91.

Born in Adelaide on April 10, 1935, he was appointed Australia’s governor-general in 2001 and resigned in 2003. He was named Australian of the Year in 1991 and was also an author and recipient of civil and ecclesiastical honours.
