Born on September 1, 1946, in Torchyn, he studied at Novosibirsk State University and the Specialized Educational Scientific Center of NSU. Parkhomchuk worked at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics and at Novosibirsk State University, and in 1997 became a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences before being elected an академик in 2016.
His honors included the State Prize of the Russian Federation, the Robert R. Wilson Prize, and medals of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” in both the second and first classes.
