Pádraig Horan, the Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer from St.
Rynagh’s, Offaly, died on August 12, 2026, aged 76. Born in Banagher on April 21, 1950, he became known for his career with the Offaly senior hurling team, where he played as a full-forward from the 1968–69 National League until his retirement after the 1986 championship.
Over that period, he helped Offaly to two All-Ireland titles and four Leinster championships, and captained the county to its first All-Ireland triumph in 1981. At club level with St. Rynagh’s, he won three Leinster medals and eleven county championship medals, and he later received an All Stars Award and was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame in 2017.
