Myles O’Connor, a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the New Jersey Devils and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, died October 8, 2026, aged 59.
Born in Calgary on April 2, 1967, he played four years of college hockey at the University of Michigan before beginning his professional career at the end of the 1988-89 season. The Devils selected him 45th overall in the 1985 NHL entry draft, and he spent five years in their organization, moving between the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League.
O’Connor appeared in 43 NHL regular-season games between 1990 and 1994. He recorded three goals and four assists for seven points and accumulated 69 penalty minutes. His NHL career included time with both New Jersey and Anaheim, the latter known as the Mighty Ducks during his playing years.
