Born in Quimperlé in 1950, he began his musical career on the Breton scene in 1972 as a violinist with Diaouled ar Menez. The following year, he helped found the music publishing cooperative Névénoé with friends, before pursuing his own work and later reuniting with some of them in the 2000s as part of Trio EDF.

A multi-instrumentalist, he played violin and guitar, and his work also extended into theater, film, and the visual arts, including painting and drawing.
