Born in Tillberga on May 17, 1934, he became known by his stage name during a career that brought him major hits from 1958 into the mid-1960s, including “Buona Sera,” “What You’ve Done to Me” and “Den siste mohikanen.” Before his success in music, he worked at sea as a sailor and made his stage debut in Amsterdam in 1952 at the nightclub Trocadero, playing guitar and accordion. After later settling in Stockholm and entering amateur singing competitions, he moved into rock music and signed with the Karusell label after performing with the group Halen on New Year’s Eve 1957.
