Born on October 13, 1931, in Jiangmen, he began his acting career at TVB and made his film debut in The Butterfly Murders in 1979. He went on to become widely identified with performances in The Legend of the Condor Heroes and the A Chinese Ghost Story series, including A Chinese Ghost Story II and A Chinese Ghost Story III.
In 2006, he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 11th Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Awards for his role as Uncle Ghost in Re-cycle.
