Larry King dead at age 81, American tennis promoter

Larry King, an American tennis promoter and attorney, died on May 29, 2026, at age 81.

Born Larry William King in Dayton, Ohio, on January 30, 1945, he studied at California State University, Los Angeles, where he met Billie Jean Moffitt and played on one of the school’s strongest men’s tennis teams. He later became known for helping shape professional women’s tennis, including the creation of the Original Nine and the early organization of the World Team Tennis era.

King was also an attorney and, according to biographical records, worked in sports promotion, real estate, and aviation. He was the former husband of Billie Jean King.
