
Krzysztof Piesiewicz, a Polish lawyer, screenwriter and politician, died on May 14, 2026, at age 80.
Born in Warsaw on October 25, 1945, he studied law at Warsaw University and began practicing in 1973. He served in the Polish Senate from 1991 to 1993 and again from 1997 to 2011, and headed the Social Movement Party.
In the 1970s and 1980s, he became involved in political cases, including work as a legal adviser to Solidarity and assistance in the prosecution of the murderers of Jerzy Popiełuszko. He also collaborated with film director Krzysztof Kieślowski.
