Kikuo Arakawa, a Japanese medical scientist and internist, died on January 23, 2026.
He specialized in hypertension and cardiovascular medicine and was a Professor Emeritus at Fukuoka University. Arakawa also served as the 12th President of the International Society of Hypertension.
Born on July 15, 1929, he was from Sueyoshi Town, now Soo City, in Kagoshima Prefecture. He graduated from Kyushu University School of Medicine in March 1953 and later worked as an assistant in the Third Department of Internal Medicine at Kyushu University, where he earned a doctorate in medicine in January 1958.
