Keith Piper dead at age 56, cancer

Keith Piper, the English cricketer who kept wicket for Warwickshire, died on June 10, 2026, after cancer.

Born in Leicester on December 18, 1969, Keith John Piper played professionally for Warwickshire for 16 years and was known as a natural wicketkeeper with an eye for the spectacular. He was part of the side that won the County Championship in 1994, helping complete an unprecedented treble, and that same year he made his highest first-class score, 116 not out, against Durham in the match made famous by Brian Lara’s 501 not out.

Piper also toured with England A, including the 1994-95 trip to India and Bangladesh, but did not play a full international.
