Born in Moscow on November 14, 1938, he also worked as an actor, athlete and stunt performer, and became president of the All-Russian Federation of Hand-to-Hand Combat and Traditional Karate. Kasyanov held the 10th dan in karate and was recognized as a Merited Coach of Russia.
