Born on September 1, 1963, in Prešov, then in Czechoslovakia, he grew up from 1969 in Hluboká nad Vltavou and later studied at a building trade school in České Budějovice from 1978 to 1982. After his military service, he joined Slovácké divadlo as a trainee actor and remained there in Uherské Hradiště until 2017, with a brief period at Jihočeské divadlo in České Budějovice from 1989 to 1991.
In 1985, he received the Czech Literary Fund award for best male acting performance for Miloš Hrma in Ostře sledované vlaky, and later earned the Slovácký Oskar for Lenny in O myších a lidech and the Největší z pierotů prize in 2000 for Samko in Gazdina roba. He also appeared in films including Artuš, Merlin a Prchlíci and Klíček.
