Sir John Garnier, a British Royal Navy officer and courtier, died on July 31, 2026, aged 92.
A rear-admiral, he served as Naval Equerry to the Queen from 1962 to 1965, later held the post of Director of Naval Operations and Trade between 1982 and 1984, and went on to become Flag Officer, Royal Yachts, from 1985 to 1990. He also served as Private Secretary and Comptroller to Princess Alexandra from 1991 to 1995.
Garnier was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1982 and a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1990.
