He was 95. Born in Bordeaux on August 22, 1930, he became one of the notable figures in the city’s wine trade in the second half of the 20th century.

Jauffret managed the CVBG-Dourthe-Kressmann trading house, helped create the Vinexpo trade fair in 1981 and later served as president of the Bordeaux Interprofessional Wine Council. A veteran of French tennis, he won the French cadet championship in 1946 and the university title in 1951, and was a team world champion on several occasions. He was also a permanent member of the Bordeaux Wine Academy.
