Heinz Stücke, the German cyclist, photographer and world traveler who spent most of his life riding through every country in the world, died on July 22, 2026.
He was 86. Born in Hövelhof on January 11, 1940, Stücke left his job as a tool and die maker in November 1962, at age 22, and set out on a three-speed bicycle with the aim of seeing the world.
Over more than five decades, he covered more than 600,000 kilometers by bike and became known for a journey that eventually took him across every country. In 1995, he was recognized for setting the world record for bicycle touring.
