Hasegawa Katsutoshi, a Japanese sumo wrestler, died on May 31, 2026, at age 81.

Born on July 20, 1944, in Kurisawa, Hokkaido, now part of Iwamizawa, he entered professional sumo in 1960 and reached the top division five years later. Competing under his family name throughout his career, he rose as high as sekiwake, collected eight special prizes and nine gold stars for victories over yokozuna, and captured a tournament championship in 1972 while finishing runner-up twice.

After retiring from the ring in 1976, he remained in the sport as an elder of the Japan Sumo Association and later coached at Sadogatake stable until 2009.
