Born in Leipzig on November 6, 1946, she played for East Germany and was part of the national side that won the IHF World Women’s Handball Championship three times. Zober also appeared at the 1976 and 1980 Summer Olympics; in Montreal she helped East Germany to silver, playing four matches including the final as goalkeeper, and four years later she won bronze after playing all five matches in the same role.
She received the Patriotic Order of Merit in Bronze.
