An international circle kabaddi raider, he represented India in tournaments in England and Canada and was recognized as Best Raider in England in 2005 and at the Canada Cup in 2007. Born in Toot village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, he began his sporting career in basketball before switching to kabaddi in 1995 at the age of 45 under coach Amarinder Singh Ruby.
He made his early tournament debut in a local 62 kg match and went on to establish himself in regional circle kabaddi circuits by 2002.
