Associated with the new wave and synth-pop scene, he was part of a band formed in Kirkby, near Liverpool, in 1979 by lead vocalist and keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist and vocalist Eddie Lundon. China Crisis began as a politically charged post-punk group influenced by Brian Eno’s ambient soundscapes before moving toward a more commercial sound and finding UK success in the 1980s.
