Eva Røine, the Norwegian psychologist, actress, author and former beauty pageant titleholder, died on July 10, 2026.
Born in Mysen on December 11, 1928, she was first known in younger years for work as an actress and journalist and later for her place in Norwegian pageant history as the country’s first Miss Norway, which led to her participation in the Miss Universe 1952 competition in the United States. She studied theater for two years in London and went on to work at the People’s Theater in Oslo.
In the early 1970s, Røine became involved with psychodrama, a method associated with psychiatrist Jacob L. Moreno, and later worked in the psychiatric department at Ullevål University Hospital, where she helped establish a separate theater space for patients.
