Don Wing, the Australian politician who served in the Tasmanian Legislative Council and as mayor of Launceston, died on October 1, 2026, aged 88.
Born in Ulverstone on April 27, 1938, Donald George Wing represented Launceston, briefly known as Paterson, in the Legislative Council from 1982 to 2011. He was President of the council from 2002 to 2008 and served as Mayor of Launceston from 1983 to 1987.
Wing, who was known formally as Donald George Wing AM, was also a Member of the Order of Australia.
