Childers, an American politician and contractor who served in the Florida Senate from 1975 to 1990, died on March 27, 2026, at the age of 94. Born Donnell Carl Childers in Skipperville, Alabama, on March 3, 1932, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University and moved to Florida in 1960.
He was elected to the State Senate in 1974 to represent the 28th district and later served on a bank advisory board.
