Curt Newsome, an American football coach who worked with the Virginia Tech Hokies and Emory and Henry Wasps, died on May 31, 2026.
He was 67. Newsome, whose full name was Curtis Wayne Newsome Jr., was born on October 29, 1958, in Hampton, Virginia.
He coached Emory and Henry College’s football program from 2014 to 2023 after earlier stops at Ervinton High School, Kecoughtan High School, Heritage High School, James Madison and Virginia Tech. A former Emory & Henry player, he was a defensive tackle in college.
