Jones, an American lawyer and counsel, died on May 22, 2026. He was 95.
Jones was the former personal counsel, adviser, draft speech writer and close friend of Martin Luther King Jr., and later served as a scholar in residence at the Martin Luther King Jr. Institute at Stanford University. He was also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the author of “What Would Martin Say?”
