Caroline Jones, a Welsh politician and Member of the Senedd for South Wales West from 2016 to 2021, died on May 14, 2026, at the age of 71 from sepsis.
Born in Llwynypia, Wales, on April 1, 1955, she was first elected in 2016 for UKIP. In 2018, she briefly led the UKIP assembly group before leaving to sit as an independent.
She later joined the Brexit Party group in May 2019, then returned to independent status after disagreements over its anti-devolution stance. In October 2020, she formed and led the Independent Alliance for Reform assembly group until losing her seat in the 2021 election.
