Bruce Rogers, the Canadian broadcast journalist who was the original anchor of The World at Six and the first host of Metro Morning, died on August 22, 2026, aged 93.
A longtime CBC broadcaster, Rogers also worked for TVOntario and CFRB and taught broadcasting at Ryerson University. Born Bruce Alfred Rogers in Toronto on August 14, 1933, he studied at the Ryerson Institute of Technology in the 1950s, where he was a student in Radio and Television Arts and served as chief announcer of CJRT-FM before later returning to Ryerson as a journalism student and instructor.
By 1962, he was working for CBC, including reporting election results from the Toronto area during the network’s coverage of the Canadian federal election that year.
