Brîndușa Armanca, a Romanian journalist and academic, died on August 28, 2026, aged 71.

Born in Câmpulung Moldovenesc in 1954, she studied philology at the West University of Timișoara and later earned a doctorate from the University of Bucharest. Armanca taught journalism at the Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, the West University of Timișoara and Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, and wrote six books on journalism.

She also served as manager of TVR Timișoara, editorial director of the Ziua daily in Bucharest, president of the Videovest Association and a board member of Transparency International Romania. From 2006 she led the Romanian Cultural Institute in Budapest, and she later headed the European Union National Institutes for Culture from 2010 to 2011.
