Brad Johns, an American hair colorist known for creating Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s signature blonde hair, died on August 27, 2026, at age 70.
Born Bradley Salvatore Johns in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, he moved to New York in the 1970s and briefly pursued acting before training at the Robert Fiance Hair Design Institute. In 1977, he worked at Cinandre, a Manhattan salon on 57th Street, and later colored the hair of clients including Johnny Depp, Christy Turlington, Lucille Ball, Kate Moss, Vanessa Redgrave, Matthew Modine, Natasha Richardson and Cindy Sherman.
Johns, who also worked as a silversmith, moved to West Hollywood, California, in 2019.
