Boutros Mouallem, Israeli Melkite Greek Catholic hierarch and bishop, died on May 13, 2026, at the age of 98.
Born in Eilabun, Galilee, in 1928, he was ordained a priest in 1955 for the Missionary Society of St. Paul.
He served as bishop of Nossa Senhora do Paraíso em São Paulo from 1990 to 1998 and as archbishop of Akka from 1998 to 2003. Mouallem also taught at seminaries and religious institutes in Lebanon and Jerusalem during his clerical career.
