Born in Copenhagen on October 4, 1943, he began and ended his career with Brønshøj Boldklub during the era when the Danish league was still amateur-only. Between 1966 and 1973, he played professionally abroad with Morton, Crystal Palace and Clydebank, including two spells with Morton; his move to Crystal Palace in March 1969 brought only one first-team appearance before he returned to Morton later that season.
