Bobby Gould, a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, died October 10, 2026, aged 69.
Born Robert Alexander Gould in Petrolia, Ontario, he attended the University of New Hampshire before beginning a professional career that included 11 NHL seasons from 1980 to 1990. The Atlanta Flames selected him in the seventh round, 118th overall, of the 1977 NHL amateur draft.
That year, the Calgary Cowboys also drafted him in the eighth round of the World Hockey Association draft, but Gould did not play in the WHA. After appearing in one game for Atlanta in the 1979–80 season, he spent three seasons moving between the NHL and the minor leagues. He later established himself as a regular with the Washington Capitals, scoring 18 goals and 31 points in his first 60 games with the club. Gould went on to record more than 20 goals in three consecutive seasons, reaching a career high of 23 goals and 50 points in 1986–87. His NHL teams also included the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins. Across his NHL career, he played for Atlanta, Calgary, Washington and Boston, with his tenure concluding in 1990.
