Bob Andrews dead at age 90, public figure

Bob Andrews, the EnglishNew Zealand motorcycle speedway rider who competed for Wimbledon Dons, Cradley Heathens and the New Zealand national team, died on May 22, 2026, aged 90.

Born in Edmonton, London, on October 27, 1935, Andrews was capped 21 times by England, 12 times by Great Britain and 27 times by New Zealand. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1956 to 1970, also representing California Poppies, Wolverhampton Wolves and Hackney Hawks.

He reached the final of the Speedway World Championship four times, in 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1964.
