Born in Campalto, Italy, on November 29, 1937, he won the gold medal in the heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. De Piccoli began training in boxing in 1955 and won national heavyweight titles in 1959 and 1960.

At the Rome Games, he reached the final and knocked out Daan Bekker after 90 seconds. He turned professional after the Olympics and retired in 1965, later working as a driving instructor.

Francesco De Piccoli (29 November 1937 – 22 May 2026) was an Italian boxer, who won the gold medal in the heavyweight division (+91 kg) at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.
