Barney Frank, the American politician who served in the U.S.

House of Representatives from 1981 to 2013, died on May 20, 2026, at age 86 of congestive heart failure. A Democrat, he represented Massachusetts in Congress and served as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee from 2007 to 2011.

He was also a leading co-sponsor of the 2010 Dodd–Frank Act. Born Barnett Frank on March 31, 1940, in Bayonne, New Jersey, he later served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1973 to 1981 before winning election to Congress.
