Auroras Encore, the Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 2013 Grand National, died on May 8, 2026.
He was 23. Bred in Ireland by the Mountarmstrong Stud, the bay gelding raced from February 2007 until January 2014 and won two hurdle races and six steeplechases from 47 starts.
He was bought as a young horse at Tattersalls Ireland in 2003 and later trained by Sue Smith at High Eldwick, near Baildon in West Yorkshire.
