Apollinaire Compaoré dead at age 72, Burkinabè businessman

Apollinaire Compaoré, a Burkinabè businessman, died on May 14, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born Apollinaire Timpiga Compaoré in Koassa on July 19, 1953, he grew up in a peasant family and later became a venture capitalist. He began by selling lottery tickets before moving into resale and wholesale.

In 2004, he founded Planor Afrique, a multisector conglomerate with 15 subsidiaries across West Africa, including businesses in banking, telecommunications, insurance, transport, and credit.
