Ann Fox Chandonnet dead at age 83, American poet

Ann Fox Chandonnet, an American poet, died on May 23, 2026, at age 83.

She was also known as a journalist, book reviewer, and culinary historian. Born Ann Alicia Fox in Lowell, Massachusetts, on July 2, 1943, she grew up in Dracut, Massachusetts.

She graduated from Dracut High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Lowell State College in 1964, and received a master’s degree in English literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1965. Her poems appeared in anthologies and magazines including Permafrost, Ice Floe, Abraxas, New Kauri, MidAtlantic, and Calapooya Collage, and she also wrote about food history for Early American Life and Alaska magazine.
