André Santini, the French politician who served as a deputy from 2009 to 2017 and as mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux from 1980, died on June 1, 2026.
He was 85. Born on October 20, 1940, in Paris’s 14th arrondissement, Santini built a long public career that also included service as a jurist, university teacher and member of the National Assembly.
Educated at Sciences Po, the Paris Faculty of Law and Economics, the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales and Lycée Pasteur, he was a former member of the UDF and later joined the New Centre after supporting Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2007 presidential election. He also served briefly as secretary of state for the civil service in 2007.
